Just read the news from dailymail.co.uk. about two million asylum seekers from Arab spring countries going to Europe, I literally think this can be a nightmare for Europe if we might see in the future some kind of an oppressive tradition, such as slavery, women with niqab, and shallow-minded to force somebody else to be like what they would believe to. That is clearly boomerang, I am afraid!
Remember my previous written, “most greatest women in the middle east” had significantly viewers I noticed who searching related to Asma Al-Assad, as one of women I described on my blog. Despite Asma’s issue popped up to mass media, apparently these women are very fashionable without hijab as well as women in Europe. Do they have the same perspectives or brave enough to speak out about homosexuality, women slavery, and human dignity? I do not think so. How impress I wrote about that because their popularity and high-style appearance.
Back to hometown, Indonesia, a long time ago, when I was kid, in Soeharto’s regime, I didn’t even know about Arab things, it was rare to see women with headscarf or caftan, as opposed to nowadays, many habib “cleric” from Arab who easily declare as an ancestry of holy prophet, and a lot of religion organization they have been built based on their belief, preaching attracted millions of followers.
What is the problem then?
For certain matters, what Arab tradition carry out to others is tend to be likely classified privilege, example, friend of mine who allegedly prophet’s ancestry cannot marry as easy as people whom not having relative from prophet blood. Also, in many cases I saw Indonesian maid tortured by Arab’s foreman, for example Ruyati execution, Sumiati’s case, and barely in Jakarta, alleged child sexual abuse case of cleric Habib Hasan Assegaf, or Arab’s chief who seems that holding some of fundamentalist organizations, the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Habib Rizieq as an example. Never heard about them since I was young, until recently they become pretty popular in Indonesia, as so much advertising on street.
Do you hate Arab people?
“Go back to your country, you terrorist” a note after brutal attack an Iraqi-American woman, Shaima Al Awadi, this case regarding hate crime over Arab people. In my own opinion, where is smoke, there is fire, what did happen to that woman, obviously connected with what we always face on media.
Define of hate crime like the Criminal Code of Canada said on CBC news, it is committed to intimidate, harm or terrify not only a person, but an entire group of people to which the victim belongs. The victims are targeted for who they are, not because of anything they have done.
Just a simple thing, I guess, treat people what you want to be treated! Everybody has the right to life, but do not force somebody else like what you thought. For example, throw a bomb and shout “kafir – heathen” because they drink alcohol, women without headscarf, and living together without marriage, and all of those forbidden to you. You are not God! So, how dare you judge and threatening other people with your mindset? No wonder, Ayaan Hirsi Magan Ali, utters, “Islam is not an European religion” . Perhaps, she might find heavy of violence on the wrong perception about Islam.
As far as I am concerned, every religion has the same moral message, either you are Christian, Catholic, Muslim, Hinduism, Jewish, and Budhism. All of us are sinners, no body is perfect! There is something beyond us must be a greatest creator, but unluckily we tend likely switch as a predominant author (hopefully, excluded me) to punish others. I mean, that is fine, if you have a different perspective on life, but shouldn’t be sort of a terrorist to anybody.
After all, just be respectful and do not think you are better than other, so handily want to change them, like Indonesian proverb says, “milk is repaid with poison” means a good deed that is repaid by a bad deed. So, don’t do it!
P.S. curious, why do asylum seekers from Arab spring tend to go to Europe and Australia? Why they don’t just move to Saudi Arabia or Qatar? Interesting.
